Films colorized by Artificial Intelligence
What exactly did the past look like? Sometimes it is hard to imagine the „real“ look of the past watching black and white films. Researchers are trying to restaurate film classics like Metropolis and others with AI.
Using neural networks seems to be an interessting approach, with much less efford than colorization by hand. But for not only getting the look of old colored film it would be important to assign the „real“ colors to specific objects, like for example the color „yellow“ for the car, specific colors for the text elements or the background in the image below:
