new animated short movie by VJ Suave “Trip”
This year VJ Suave from Brazil had been on a „trip“ through Europe, to Switzerland, Portugal, Berlin and Mülheim an der Ruhr. During Shiny Toys Festival in Mülheim we lived together for a week and I was able to witness their work first hand. Over two years ago I had come across their lively, energetic and funny animations and posted one of their videos here on Visual Society. Now we were together in one apartment 🙂 Just incredible, how a distance can melt away.
On the first three days in Mülheim, which actually seems to be hard to pronounce, they (Ceci&Ygor + Dante Zaballa) completed their already partly animated short movie, while I did some promo stuff, cooked some Sauerkraut mit Kartoffeln und Kassler for us and programed my PixelTV info screens. In the evenings we went out by bicycle to check out some nice spots for projecting and filming. From Tuesday on we were driving through the streets of Mülheim with Alex and her old VW Bulli, together with Bjorn Samson from Belgium, a soundproof generator and a projector in the back- doing some guerilla mapping onto walls, fences, trees, grass and the Salzgitter AG tube factory, which is a famous industrial complex in the area and one of the few relicts of the former industrial era in the ruhr valley. Very exciting!
The footage they then took to Brazil and edited it during the past weeks. Now here it is: The new animated short movie by VJ Suave! Some making-of-pics and a goody movie (with impressions from their trip and shiny toys festival) down below.
