Last year Visual Society went to Space VJ Meeting in Olsztyn, Poland. There we met a bunch of cool VJs and VJanes doing all sorts of visuals and programming. Finally we can present you another told:by interview session with Derubare – visual artist, director, producer, VJ.
Q: WHERE DOES YOUR ARTIST’S NAME COME FROM?
My family name is „Deruba“. Someday I discovered that this word is the third form of an italian verb „derubare“ which means „stealing“. For me, inspiration is kind of stealing thing (it’s a long story), so I – inspired by the music – decided to be „light thief“ – derubare.
Q: WHAT DISCRIBES YOUR VJING STYLE THE BEST?
material music / organic perculation. The leitmotif of my visuals is the relation between audio and video in the view of sound as a integral part (quality) of matter. It’s expressed by group of specific motions in the structure of filters which percolates raw footage combined with animation in cyberpunk aestethics.
