Klaus Urbons – exhibition at SHINY TOYS

Klaus Urbons is a graphics and arts freelancer since 1980. His fields of work include digital media, copy art and electrography, historical research, technical and art copy work. His professional evolution started developing after secondary school, when he began with an apprenticeship as a typesetter and later got a degree in visual communication with a minor in history science at the college for design in Düsseldorf.

It was 1979 when Klaus bought the overhead projector that he is still using today, from an artist colleague. This gadget provided him the ideal point of optical intersection between the copying machine (from the DIN-A4-format) and image-work without fixed boundaries. Tool, toy and instrument at the same time, this strange lamp offered a variety of options, was light and shadow theater, communication and exhibition tool.
