Shadowscope

There are many old and different techniques to get an effect of moving images, beginning with flip-books and zoetropic discs (see Sculpture) to ancient shadow plays and shadow theatres (chinese 皮影戲/ Píyǐngxì; indonesian Wayang; thai Nang Yai).

A very beautiful combination of shadow play and zoetropic devices can be found in these two works of Alex Holstein who build some very nice shadowscopes.
